What will you be doing?
Support the Education and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) Program that provides early intervention, special education, and related services for children (birth through age 21) of DOD families who work overseas. Participate as an authoritative resource expert on EDIS interdisciplinary evaluation team.
A Day in the Life of a Navy Clinical Psychologist
Execute a full range of clinical psychological diagnostic, strategies, procedures, and intervention services for the Educational Developmental and Intervention Services (EDIS) for children birth through 21 years of age with developmental, emotional, behavioral disorders which have a negative impact on a child’s ability to benefit from their educational program.
Work as an independent clinician, administer, score, and interpret psycho-diagnostic tests used for diagnosing mental, personality, behavioral disorders for children and adolescents with complex interpersonal developmental disorders.
Provide direct therapy, consultation, and co-teaching models of services to children with identified psychotherapy needs as indicated by evaluation and on the Individualized Educational Plan or on an Individualized Family Service Plan.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Department of Defense Dependents Schools educational personnel.
Provide consultation and guidance to Department of Defense Dependents Schools and other staff personnel concerning the psychological functioning of students.

Your initial tour of duty is 24 months that may be extended up to the maximum of 5 years.

Completion of doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited university or professional school directly related to clinical psychology; Basic Life Support Certification; Current State license in clinical psychology from a U.S. State, territory or district;
- One year APA clinical internship or
- APA-accredited postdoctoral residency or
- Fellowship or certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology or
- Clinical Psychologist commissioned/employed in the Navy prior to March 27, 2015 who has completed an one year clinical internship;
Plus, one or more years of post-license clinical child psychologist experience screening, evaluating, and treating children (birth to age 21) with developmental disorders.
